متن کاملEctoparasites of the ground squirrel (Citellus citellus (L.)) in Turkey.
A total of 100 ground squirrels, Citellus (C.) citellus were trapped in rural regions of Konya in order to determine the presence of ectoparasites. Of these C. citellus examined, 16% (16/100) were infected with at least one ectoparasite species. Two types of ectoparasites were found including 10% fleas and 7% ticks. Only two flea species were found on C. citellus including Nosopsyllus fasciatus...
متن کاملArms Races and Car Races
Evolutionary car racing (ECR) is extended to the case of two cars racing on the same track. A sensor representation is devised, and various methods of evolving car controllers for competitive racing are explored. ECR can be combined with co-evolution in a wide variety of ways, and one aspect which is explored here is the relative-absolute fitness continuum. Systematical behavioural differences ...

Carl was not a geneticist by training or at heart, and although cognizant of horizontal gene transfer, saw it as a creative force at the beginning of cellular evolution (the ‘progenote’ stage), not as a challenge to defining the ‘true’ relationships between living things now. Most of the phylogenetic community still holds Carl’s belief as foundational. Nor was he, as Mayr complained, a card-car...
متن کاملDraft Genome Sequence of the Bacteriocin-Producing Strain Enterococcus faecium M3K31, Isolated from Griffon Vultures (Gyps fulvus subsp. fulvus)
Enterococcus faeciumM3K31 is a bacteriocinogenic lactic acid bacterium (LAB) isolated from griffon vulture (Gyps fulvussubsp.fulvus) feces. The draft genome sequence of this strain provides genetic data that support its biotechnological potential.
